After about 40 minutes, the pyrolysis gasses starts coming out. They are lit by the fire still remaining outside, so no methane is emitted
You cam easily see when the pyrolysis gasses leave. It starts burning more intensively than before.
When it stops, the char is ready.
If the char still contains some brown wood, you can let them join the next batch.
